B elgium is widely known for it’s poor weather and be prepared for more of the same in Bruges, but don’t let that dampen your spirits in this old northern town. When finding your way around the town be sure that you use the public transportation system because there isn’t much room for parking in Bruges. If you’d prefer to go by car, there is great parking on the south side of town, but parking on the inner city streets is very cramped and you’ll be unlikely to findĀ a spot anytime to soon.
If a ferry trip is more your style you can make it an all day excursion. P&O Ferries offer daily sailing every night from the Hull to Zeebrugge, which can take up to 12.5 hours. Beware though, you should definitely plan ahead with this trip because the ferry prices don’t include the costs to get from the bus stations to the ferry terminal. The average price for that trip is roughly 6.75 pounds sterling for each person going along with you.
If you’d like to stay in town and on your feet, the inner city historical center is packed with tourist sights and stops. If you really would rather not walk, renting a bicycle can be an excellent option if you don’t mindĀ a little exercise. As you pedal around town you’ll notice the old village feel of the town as you see street after street of historical homes dating as far back as in time masonry can stand, if you love gardens, museums, Breweries, than the small town of Bruges is just the place you’ve been waiting to go to.
