SAVAGE South East Annual Conference
17th September 2007
This year the SAVAGE Annual Conference for the South East was hosted by Guildford YMCA. Over 60 attended the conference, which was chaired by Anne Lord, Vice-Chair of the SAVAGE Board of Trustees.
The theme of the conference was 'Partnership Brokering', a subject close to many people's hearts, now that the bidding process has commenced for the new round of the European Social Fund.
David Steed from the Government Office for the South East, Steve Dennis from the Learning and Skills Council, and Simon Hayes from Jobcentre Plus were our morning speakers.
David outlined the context, objectives and key principles of the new ESF programme, whilst Steve and Simon were able to explain the procurement processes and timetables on behalf of the LSC and the DWP respectively.
The afternoon was given over to partnership brokering with organisations swapping contact details and registering their interests in the different ESF priorities.
